With Hurricane Irma nothing more than a memory now, local softball teams took back to the field. Last week Long County High School faced Brantley County in two big 2-AAA Region matchups with each team notching a win.

On Wednesday, the Lady Tide traveled to Nahunta and beat the Lady Herons 6-5 in ten innings. On Thursday the two teams faced off again this time in Ludowici, and in this contest Brantley squeaked out the win 7-5.

With the results Long County improved its overall record to 10-4 and its region mark to 3-4, while Brantley County improved its record to 11-6 overall and 4-2 in the region.

According to MaxPreps, on Tuesday the Lady Tide traveled to Reidsville for another region game against Tattnall County (8-13 and 1-6). Results for that game were not available.

Today Long County hits the road again for a non-region double header against Johnson High School (2-7). Those games are in Savannah with the first one beginning at 4:30 and the second scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
