On July 31, the Long County High School softball team faced former players in their annual alumni scrimmage.

This year, the Lady Tide beat the alumni players handily 17-1.

After the scrimmage, Lady Tide head coach Tyler Chambliss said his team executed well and that he was proud of their effort.

"The girls executed well in all phases of their game, they hit well, they threw well, they just played very solid," Chambliss said.

The coach also praised the efforts of the alumni team and said that the pitching was the best that his team had faced all summer.

"That was the best pitching we’ve seen all summer, with Harley (Dawson), and for that matter Caitlin (Wingate) on the mound, the girls were facing college level pitching," Chambliss said.

Despite the lopsided score, Chambliss said the game was enjoyed by both his team and the former players.

"It’s always enjoyable to have the alumni game," he said. "It is the most fun that we have every year and everyone who takes a part in it has a good time."
