Lady Tide wins again

Long County showed every one that the early part of their season was not indicative of how well they could play, as they won their fourth game in a row this past Tuesday.
The Blue Tide (5-7, 4-4 Region 2-AA) beat the Brantley County Lady Herons, 41-38.
The Herons went into the game knowing they would have to find a way to slow down senior Gentara Holmes, who had averaged 20 plus points over the Tide’s last four wins.
The girls led by as many as 13 points in the second period, but the Herons were determined to keep it close and Long County was only able to go in at the half with a narrow three point lead, 27-24.
In the third and fourth periods, Brantley County continued to fight back, and early in the fourth, they were even able to go up by three. But Long County was too much and by the end of the game they had pulled out their fifth win of the season.
“I was pleased with the play of the entire team, it was a team effort with good hustle, good defense and making assists”, Long County coach Julie Daffron said. “Brittany (Mills) was on tonight and had a real good game scoring 17 points,” said Daffron.
