Coming off a dismal 2006 year where the Long County Blue Tide softball team had a 2-12 record, and only managed one region win, the ladies could only improve in 2007.
The team got its first region win Tuesday, defeating the McIntosh County Buccaneers in a nail-biter, 10-9. With the win, the ladies now share first place in the Region 2-AA standings, along with Jeff Davis County, Appling County and Brantley County, all at 1-0.
The Tide’s overall record improved to 3-2.
The ladies were back on the road again Wednesday as they traveled to Nahunta, taking on the Herons. The score wasn’t available in time for printing.
The Blue Tide girls will be back home on Tuesday as they face the Pierce County Bears at 4:30 p.m.
