Lakeside, Evans knocks out Wayne County

It’s down to the final two, but despite a 29-3 overall and 10-2 Region 2-AAAA record, the Wayne County Yellow Jackets will not play for the state championship.

Hosting the Panthers of Lakeside, Evans the Yellow Jackets dropped both games Monday, ending their 2010 baseball season.

The Panthers scored 13 runs to the Yellow Jackets 5 in game one. In game two Lakeside took a 4 run lead, winning 9-5.

Lakeside, Evans of Region 3-AAAA will host Marist, of Region 6-AAAA, this Friday for the state championship of class AAAA. Lakeside has an overall record of 29-6 overall and 15-1 in their region. Marist is 28-8 overall and 13-2 for their region.

According to ga.prepcountry.com there were a few classifications still undecided Tuesday. In class AAAAA Lassiter High School is still waiting to see who they face in the championship game. North Gwinnett and Harrison split games and were scheduled to play game three yesterday evening.

In class AAA Thomson and Columbus split games forcing, Ringgold High School to wait. Cook will play Calhoun in class AA.

In class A Walker and Aquinas split games forcing Wesleyan to wait.
