After a second place finish in the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association District 2 tournament, the Liberty County 10 and Under All-Star baseball team advanced to the GRPA State tournament in East Point on July 11-14.

Liberty got off to a great start at state, defeating East Point 12-0, Dalton 11-3, and Vidalia 12-5. In the finals of the winner’s bracket, Liberty squared off with Lyons, who handed Liberty their first defeat, 11-3.

Liberty’s next opponent was a familiar one, Glynn County, who had come through the loser’s bracket to defeat Liberty twice and win the District 2 Championship. The rematch in the State tournament yielded a similar result with Glynn taking an 8-0 win and ending Liberty’s run for the state championship.

The team coaches are Rose Golden, Daniel Clark and Jerome Grant. Players are Hayden Arney, Marshawn Drake, Ryan Golden, Jayden Gray, Nickolas Kreighbaum, Shyne Letman, Jonathan Lozano, Peyton Pilon, Joshua Smiley, Dustin Snelson and Victor Villella.
