LCRD softball is under way

The Liberty County Recreation Department softball season started Monday with junior league action. The Heartbreakers beat the Belles 10-7 and the Angels beat the Diamonds 5-3.
For the Heartbreakers, Karen Donaldson and Mercedes McCrae each went 3-for-3, while Rachael Ray went 2-for-3.
For the Belles, Taylor Mueller, Bailey Carmichael and Kalee Wells each collected two hits.
In the Angels’ win, Kanae Gordon struck out 11 batters. Dominique Sibley, however, struck out 12 Angels for the Diamonds.
Wednesday, the Angels beat the Heartbreakers 8-5. Brittany Shaadt went 3-for-3 and Suede Jones went 2-for-3 for the Angels. Kanae Gordon struck out seven batters.
For the Heartbreakers, it was Donaldson and Ashley Schrader each going 2-for-2. Ray had 2 RBIs.
The Diamonds evened their record, defeating the Belles 7-4.
Sibley struck out seven batters and collected 3 RBIs. Robin Glandon went 3-for-3 and Camishea Davis had two hits.
For the Belles, Ashley Morris went 2-for-2 and Leaha Powers went 1-for-1.
In senior action Tuesday, Cassie Standard, Chelsea O’Quinn and Tyshunn Williams led the Bandits to a 16-0 win over the Ponies. The girls had three hits apiece.
Diana Pineda and Daniella Jacobs each went 1-for-1 for the Ponies.
The Wildcats beat Al Szkoe Tax Co. 7-6. Tiffany Breeden, Brandi Huerd and Amber Wells each went 2-for-2 in the win.
