Liberty County High School’s future five-star recruit Richard LeCounte spent some time with former Panther teammate Raekwon McMillan at Ohio State’s Friday Night Lights camp held July 24 in Ohio.

While LeCounte participated in camp activities, rumors started to swirl with reports saying that he verbally committed to the team.
According to a report posted on Cleveland.com, four-star Pennsylvania cornerback Lamont Wade gave reporters an interesting tidbit.

The report said that Wade told reporters that LeCounte committed to the Buckeyes.
On July 23, LeCounte tweeted, “Braxton Miller is the best player in College football hands down.”

But LeCounte was also quick to squash the talk on his Twitter account after Buckeyes running back Ezekiel Elliott added to the rumor seed by tweeting, “Welcome to the fam.”

LeCounte replied July 24 tweeting, “Great Time At FNL. No Commitment though, just enjoying everything.”

LeCounte also explained the mistake to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
"It wasn’t a commitment,” LeCounte told the AJC about Elliott’s tweet. “All throughout the event, we were just playing around with each other. We were doing this where people would throw the ball up and if someone was by you, they would try to dunk on you. So when you get dunked on, it’s like a ‘welcome to the getting dunked-on’ squad. It wasn’t a commitment or anything like that.”

Regarding Wade, LeCounte said, “That was also a misunderstanding. I had a really good time out there, but I didn’t commit or anything like that. I was just hanging out, and the coaches were really excited to see me there. He (Wade) is one of the players in my class that I would like to play with. He told me that if I committed, he would commit, but I didn’t do that.”
