The Liberty County High School boys’ varsity basketball team fell in a Feb. 2, rematch game against Southeast Bulloch 60-50.
Panther Brandon Mobley had a double-double with 19 points and 12 total rebounds. Jeremiah Smoke added 15 and D’Imani Thomas chipped in 11. Smoke was 3 of 12 from behind the arch. Thomas was 3 of 7. The Panthers were 8 of 10 at the line. There was no score posted for the game against Beach High reportedly played on Feb. 5.
The boys play Groves on Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. in Garden City. They are 3-9 overall and 1-4 in the region.
The Lady Panthers are 6-4 overall and 3-1 in the region. No other games are posted to their schedule. Their last recorded game was a 50-47 win against Windsor Forest on Jan. 29, where Aliyah Guilfo scored 13 points to lead the Lady Panthers.
The Bradwell Institute Lady Tigers are 8-8 overall and 5-6 in the region. They defeated the Lady Effingham County Rebels 61-34 on Feb. 5. Taniyah Bowman scored 17 points and Kennese Madria added 10. The girls lost to Richmond Hill on Feb. 2 by a score of 61-41. In the loss Bowman had a game-high 33 points.
The Tiger boys are 4-12 overall and 1-10 in region play. They lost 55-37 against Richmond Hill and 64-58 against Effingham County. Against the Wildcats Tiger Kamarion Melvin scored 11 points. The Tigers were 9 of 17 at the line. Against Effingham, Elyjah Thurmon led the team with 14 points.
The Tigers are set to play at South Effingham on Feb. 9. The girls’ tip-off at 6 p.m. The boys’ game will follow.
