Appling County beat Liberty County (7-3) 13-0 on Thursday at Liberty. The Lady Pirates scored three runs in the first, three in the third and six in the sixth to secure their ninth win of the season. Liberty County got only one hit in the game, a single by senior Madison Winn.

Appling has been a thorn in the side of another Region 2-AAA team this season as well. The Lady Pirates beat visiting Long County 9-1 on Aug. 17 to end the Lady Tide’s six-game run to start the season.

And Long County was confident going into the game, according to Riddle, who’s story noted the Lady Tide outscored opponents 49-2 prior to running into Appling County.

The Lady Pirates led 5-0 early and never looked back.

Up next for Long County: A Tuesday game against visiting Tattnall County. First pitch is at 5:30 pm.

Up next for Liberty County (7-3): The Lady Panthers head to Nahunta to take on Brantley County in a region 2-AAA contest.

First pitch is at 6 p.m.
