The Lions Club had the odds stacked against them Thursday night. If they wanted to win the LCRD Midget softball championship, they had to do the feat with only eight players, opposed to the standard 10.
That’s because three of their players were on a family vacation.
Oh yeah, they also had to beat T.R. Long twice and the girls were delayed an hour because of lightning.
Not a problem for coach Samuel Taylor’s girls. They won the first game, 7-5 and held off Long in the championship game, 4-3.
Karson Rogers pitched superbly in both games and the defense backed her up well.
Rogers’ counterpart Long pitcher Brittany Desbiens also pitched two good games.
James Rogers and Cody Folker assisted Taylor in coaching the Lions Club.
Lions Club players include Miranda Taylor, Karson Rogers, Kadisha Bennett, Liana Washington, Heathey Byler, Megan Folker, Justine Spears Gabriella Anthony, Catherine Love, Bobee Love and Makenzi Love.
