Local AAU girls team holding raffle
Basketball through hoop

The Georgia Lady Dream basketball team is selling raffle tickets to raise funds for the upcoming season.

The team is coached by Shelly McElveen, a military veteran from Fort Stewart, and is composed of girls between the ages of 12 and
18 from Long, Wayne and Tattnall counties. The team is a member of the Amateur Athletic Association.

McElveen said the players need community assistance to enable them to participate in tournaments and team camps.

“We have held several car washes and (are) currently working on other fundraising methods,” she said.

The team is selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a 55-inch TV and gift cards worth $50 and $100.

Each raffle ticket costs $20. All the proceeds will go toward the team’s travel, uniform and tournament fees. The drawing will be at 6 p.m. Friday at the Shuman Center in Hinesville.
