JESUP — Facing intense competition, three members of the Leaps and Bounds Gymnastics Center level 4 gymnastics team traveled to Moultrie on Dec. 5 and medaled at the 2009 state meet. They were led by coaches Jodie Clackler and Ashley Godwin, who said the girls represented their respective communities proudly.

Tria Coleman of Hinesville placed 14th on the uneven bars for her age division. Allysia Dunkins, also of Hinesville, placed second on vault, 10th on beam and 14th all-around. Samantha Mendez of Jesup placed 12th on beam and floor.

Jaci Tompkins, a level 7 gymnast, qualified and competed Dec. 12 in the level 7 season kick-off competition in Woodstock.

Clackler, Godwin and Vanessa Kuhns coach the team at their facility in Jesup. The squad is composed of 11 gymnasts who compete at varying levels. For more information, call 427-9400, e-mail lbgymnastics@yahoo.com or go to http://leapsandboundsgym.com.

The team also has a booster club. The nonprofit organization was formed in November 2008 to support the gymnasts as they grow physically, mentally and emotionally. They are looking for local businesses to sponsor the team for the 2009-10 season. For information about the club or becoming a sponsor, e-mail lbgtbc@hotmail.com or go to www.lbgtbc.com.
