With the holiday season behind us, the pulse of area high school basketball picks up. Here is a quick look at some of the upcoming action.
Jan. 6
• Bradwell Institute
The Tigers play host to Savannah High in a Region 3-AAAAA battle. Pete Woodard’s boys team will try and pull off an upset against the Blue Jackets, who are 9-2 overall, 3-0 in the region. They were scheduled to play Keenan, S.C., in a non-region test Saturday night.
Bradwell has won three straight games after starting the season 0-5. The Tigers were scheduled to take on visiting Long County in a non-region game last night.
The Lady Tigers stayed busy over Christmas week by taking the title at the Great Southern Shootout in Macon. As of Friday, they owned a 7-1 record, 2-0 in the region. They took on Long County on Saturday night, then will meet the struggling Lady Blue Jackets, who are 0-3 in the region, on Tuesday.
• Long County
The Blue Tide took on Bradwell in a non-region game last night and will face Region 2-AA foe Pierce County on Tuesday. As of Friday, the Bears were 2-8, 0-3. They were scheduled to play a non-region game against Ware County on Saturday.
The Lady Blue Tide will take on Pierce on Tuesday. Long is 1-1 in the region, while Pierce is 3-0.
• Liberty County
Liberty County, which has not played since Dec. 20, returns to action with an away game against Region 3-AAA opponent West Laurens on Friday. The Panther boys, 10-1 overall, 2-0 in the region, are still ranked No. 4 in the Class AAA coaches poll. West Laurens is 5-5 overall, 2-0 in the region.
The Lady Panthers are also enjoying a good season thus far. Entering Friday’s game, they are 8-3, 1-1 in the region. The Lady Raiders are 4-6, 0-2.

The Tigers will face another region foe in Windsor Forest. As of Friday, Windsor’s boys’ team was 1-2, while the girls were 2-1. Both teams took on Johnson High on Tuesday.
• Long County
The Blue Tide will take on Charlton County. Both teams from Folkston entered the game with 0-2 region records.
