The Benedictine Cadets have taken over the No. 1 spot in Region 3-AAAAA. The BC team downed the BI boys, 18-1, in five innings Friday at the Tigers’ field. According to, the Cadets edged up to the top spot when former No. 1 seed Camden County was handed a 4-2 loss by Jenkins High School Friday afternoon. The Tiger boys still are in the running, currently ranked fourth in the region.
Tiger pitcher Adam Corwin took the loss. He started on the mound for the Tigers, but allowed too many walks. Already down 2-0, Kyle Lannom came in and got a strike out. The Cadets shortly faced two outs but their bats seemed to be in good working order, and the visiting team closed the first inning up 6-0.
The Tigers allowed one run in the second inning, but gave up seven runs in the third and four runs in the fourth as the Cadets drove in two home runs and five RBIs. The BI boys avoided a shutout by scoring a run in the bottom of the fourth inning, but it wasn’t enough to keep the game alive.
The Tigers are 6-7 overall and 5-3 in the region and will host Savannah High on Tuesday for another region test.
