Former Liberty County football player Aaron Bennett was among four Tuskegee players named to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference 2012 preseason all-conference football team, according to the school’s website.
The league announced its all-conference team and predicted order of finish Tuesday at the conference’s annual football kickoff luncheon.
Bennett, a sophomore defensive lineman, made the second-team defensive team.
Last season, Bennett registered 25 tackles and 10 tackles for losses.  He also had one quarterback sack, one quarterback hurry, a forced fumble, a safety and broke up two passes. This season, Bennett will play football alongside his brothers Trier and Jovan and his former LCHS teammate Jevon Jones.
Other Golden Tigers selected to the all-conference first team were punter Gene Stewart Moody and punt-return specialist Mark Hughes. Senior defensive lineman Adontavius Turner was selected to the second-team defense.
Tuskegee was picked to finish second in the SIAC West. According to the school’s athletic website, Tuskegee went 4-6 in 2011. The Golden Tigers open Sept. 1 versus Alabama A&M in Birmingham, Ala.
