BI softball players honored at fete

After finishing 14-12 overall and 8-4 in Region 3-AAAAA, the Bradwell Institute softball team was honored at its annual banquet Nov. 6 at Club Stewart.
The Lady Tigers advanced to the state Class AAAAA playoffs in 2011.
Coach Sharyl Eastlake awarded varsity letters to Marissa Polston, Ashley Riles, Shaquira Smith, Sarah Wells and Samantha Gonzalez.
Bars were awarded to Jessica Puckett, Kasey Smith, Courtney Felton, Kelissa Hargrove, Karson Rogers, Candace Blair, Barb Rego, Rachael Ray and Taylor Reese.
Jacquelynn Morey also received a Lady Tigers Jacket for selling more than 60 spaghetti dinner fundraiser tickets.
The team gave the Hellgren family a check for $200 that the Lady Tigers raised when they sold pink cancer awareness shirts to parents, faculty and students.
Rhett Hellgren is the Bradwell baseball coach. His son, Brandon, is battling leukemia.
