Long County High School baseball team on Tuesday fell to powerhouse Jeff Davis, 6-1, in Ludowici.
The defeat was the Blue Tide’s first Region 2-AA loss of the season.  As of Wednesday, the top five teams in the region were Jeff Davis at 2-0 (4-1 overall), Benedictine Military School (6-1) and Metter High School (2-3) both at 1-0, with Long County (5-2) and Atkinson County (5-2) both at 1-1.
On Thursday, Long County was scheduled to play Benedictine in Ludowici.
Today, the Tide is back on the mound at 6 p.m. in a non-region game taking on Claxton on the road. The Tigers come into the game with an overall record of 3-5 and are struggling on defense, giving up 8.3 runs a night, while scoring 3.3 runs. When the two teams met last month in Ludowici, the Blue Tide won easily, 15-2.  Results will be in Sunday’s paper.
