The Long County High School baseball team lost, 9-7, to Tattnall County on Friday, but on Monday the Blue Tide bounced back to defeat Claxton High School, 9-6. Both games were played in Ludowici.

Taking on the Battle Creek Warriors (3-1) in a big Region 2-AA matchup, the Blue Tide fell behind, 5-0, early before fighting back.

"I was very proud of our kids for battling Tattnall County until the very end," Long County coach Brian Thomas said. "We were very resilient all night and that is something to be excited about."

Luke Golden picked up the loss while the Warriors’ Andrew Waters garnered the win.

The leading hitters for the Tide were Brandon McManus and Clint Kennedy, who both went 2 for 4, and Shawn Mills, who was 1 for 2 with a double.

On Monday, the Tide rebounded to beat Claxton and improve to 3-4 overall.

The Tide played region foe Pierce County on Tuesday night in Blackshear. The Bears went into the game with a 1-4 overall record and a 1-1 region mark.

On Friday, the Tide play host to region opponent Toombs County High School at 6 p.m. in Ludowici.
