After a week off, the Long County High School football team will return to the gridiron when it takes on Pierce County at 7:30 tonight in Blackshear.
The Bears bring a 3-2 overall record into the game, but even more important is their 2-0 mark in Region 2-AA.
Pierce County also is riding a two-game win streak, having defeated Tattnall County, 37-6, and Brantley County, 35-18.
The Bears are scoring an average of 21 points per game while giving up an average of 17. Pierce County also brings experience with 18 returning seniors from last year.
Long County (0-5) still is looking for its first win of the season. After opening with two close losses to Bryan County (28-21) and Southeast Bulloch (27-21), the Blue Tide have been outscored, 124-21, in three consecutive losses to Wayne County, McIntosh County and Vidalia.
Meanwhile, Pierce County is 5-0 against Long County.
The Blue Tide are hoping to pull off an upset tonight while the Bears are looking to post their third 2-AA victory.
