Bradwell had Monday’s home game was in the bag — or so it thought.
The Tigers led Brunswick, 3-1, going into the top of the seventh inning and knew they just had to hold off the Pirates for three outs. But the Pirates had other plans, and they scored three runs to win, 4-3.
“We walked a couple guys, they laid down a perfect bunt and then one hit put them back in it,” Bradwell head coach Jeff Polk said.
Tiger pitcher Sage Sammons pitched for 6 1/3 innings, giving up four batters, four runs and seven hits. Evan Crystal came in for relief to close the top of the inning.
The Pirates then held the Tigers in the final inning for the win.
Tiger Brandon Woodard was 1 for 3, including a double, with two runs batted in.
Evan Crystal was 2 for 3 and scored a run. Ryan Desbiens was 1 for 4 with one RBI. Hunter Jackson was 1 for 3. Stephon Felton was 1 for 2 with one run scored. Chris Nunn was 1 for 3, and K’ane Nunn scored a run.
The Tigers, 4-7 overall and 2-2 in Region 3-AAAAA, will host a double-header region matchup Friday against Windsor Forest. The games start at 4:30 p.m.
