It’s time to lace up your shoes and get off the bench for the Coastal Health District/Savannah Sand Gnats Healthy Heart Home Run 5K Trot at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at historic Grayson Stadium in Savannah. There also will be a one-mile Rookie Run.
Each participant will receive a T-shirt, a general-admission ticket to the June 25 Sand Gnats game and a special prize. Advance registration is $25, and registration the day of the race is $30. On-site registration and packet pickup will start at
7 a.m.
“We’re excited about joining with the Sand Gnats for the first-ever Healthy Heart Home Run 5K Trot and hope that people will come out with their friends and family for a day of fun,” Coastal Health District Director of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Cristina Gibson said. “Regular exercise such as walking or jogging can strengthen your heart, improve your circulation and lower your blood pressure.”
A portion of the proceeds raised from the Trot will benefit the Chatham County Safety Net Planning Council (CCSNPC). The goal of CCSNPC is to make the health-care system for primary care stronger, increase the size of the system within our community, make it easier to find health care and link the uninsured and underinsured to a medical home.
