Glynn hands LCHS fifth straight loss

Glynn Academy handed the Liberty County High School baseball team its fifth straight loss Friday night, beating the host Panthers 5-1.

The loss drops Liberty to 1-4 in Region 2A-AAAA. The Panthers are 3-7 overall.

Brandon Whitmore took the loss for the Panthers. He threw five innings and allowed one run. Antonio Smith pitched the final two innings and gave up four runs in the top of the sixth.

The only Liberty County run came from Javaughn Shuman, who tripled and scored when the Red Terrors’ outfielder tossed the ball infield and inadvertently hit the umpire.

In a late report: The LCHS boys beat Bryan County High School Saturday, 13-3, Saturday afternoon. The first time the teams met this season was Feb. 28 when the Redskins beat the Panthers 9-8 in extra innings in Pembroke.
