Gary Guyton’s third annual sports camp, scheduled for this weekend, is being postponed because his grandmother has died.
Visitation for Beatrice Jones, who died April 27, is set for Friday evening. Her funeral will be Saturday morning.
“Thank you to the fans for all the support and prayers,” Guyton said. “This is a really difficult time for our family and the most important thing is being together. See you this summer”
According to organizer Flying Color Sports, the camp will be rescheduled for June. It was to be Friday and Saturday.
Guyton, a Hinesville native, spent the last four seasons playing for the New England Patriots. The former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket recently signed a one-year contract to play for the Miami Dolphins this year.
For the Patriots, Guyton played in 60 games with 32 career starts. He tallied 150 solo tackles and 79 assists, defended 15 passes, had three interceptions, forced a fumble and scored a touchdown.
For the past two years, Guyton hosted camps for children at his former high school, Bradwell Institute.
