According to a news report published Thursday in the Sun Sentinel, Hinesville natives Gary Guyton’s one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins is worth $765,000.
Guyton, a former Bradwell Institute football player, spent four seasons with the New England Patriots. After seeing his playing time diminish last season, he signed a one year deal with the Dolphins in April.
Guyton will return to Hinesville this summer to host his third annual sports camp scheduled for June 24-25.
The event will start at 6 p.m. Sunday June 24, with a Great Amazing Race for Youth. Modeled after the TV show “Amazing Race,” teams of two will race against other teams around a 1-mile cross-country course that includes up to eight stations. The clue cards provided at each station directs the team to perform a task (game, relay, obstacle course, etc.) before proceeding to the next station. The team that completes the tasks and reaches the finish line with the fastest overall time is declared the winner. Contestants should be prepared to get a little dirty and wet. This is a rain-or-shine event.
Fees for the race are $40 if purchased in advance, $60 on race day.
On Monday, June 25, Guyton will host football and cheerleading camps at Bradwell.
The first camp starts at 9 a.m. and is open to grades first through sixth. The second camp starts at 11 a.m. and is open for grades seventh through 12th. The football and cheerleading camps are free. Guyton and a few of his NFL friends will teach the fundamentals of football share their knowledge of the game and talk about their NFL experiences.
Spaces are limited for the camps.
