Hank White golf tourney set for Aug. 2

The date has been set for the 10th annual Henry “Hank” White Memorial Golf Tournament.
The annual tournament, which provides $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from Liberty County High School, First Presbyterian Christian Academy and Bradwell Institute, will tee off at 9 a.m. Aug. 2 at the Cherokee Rose Golf Course in Hinesville.
The tournament has given out nearly $70,000 in scholarships since it started in 2005.
White was the chairman of the deacons’ board at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and state chaplain for the Veterans of Foreign Wars. White was committed to helping students further their educations. He and his wife, Josephine, traveled the state with the church and organization, doing whatever they could to help the children attain better educations.
Tournament fees are $60 per person or $240 for a team of four and include golf cart, green fees and lunch. Mulligans are $5 each and limited to two per person. Prizes are awarded for first-, second- and third-place teams. There also will be prizes for the closest to the pin, longest drive, longest putt and straightest drive.
A golfer will win a car by hitting a hole-in-one at Nos. 3 or 13.
Sponsorship opportunities are available and are priced from $100-$500.
