Golfers from all over the area came out recently to participate in the fourth annual HAPfan Golf Tournament at Cherokee Rose Golf Course in Hinesville.
Bob Puckett, Bubba Wiggins, James Jones and Jeff Stewart teamed up to win the tournament.
The runner-up team consisted of Chuck Smith, John Floyd, Ben Floyd and Ricky Floyd.
Rounding out the top three was the foursome of Angel Cordero, Jack Shuman, Norma Martin and Eric McCorkle.
Photos of the second- and third-place teams are on page 2B.
The HAPfan Golf Tournament is an annual event that is held in memory of the late Mabel Creel, a golfer who lived in Hinesville. Tournament proceeds go towards funding scholarships to local golfers from both Liberty and Long County for public and private high schools.
Each scholarship awarded is for the amount of $500 and goes to golfers who represent the values that Creel epitomized.
Some of the sponsors for this year’s golf tournament included Hinesville Ford; CenturyLink; Arnold, Stafford, and Randolph; Sen. Buddy Carter; Liberty Regional Medical Center; Hinesville Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge; the Heritage Bank; VIP Office and Supply; and Verdell Jones/State Farm.
“Many thanks to HAPfan’s sponsors and volunteers who chipped in to make fundraising efforts a success,” HAPfan Foundation board member Elise Stafford said.
