The Long County High School baseball team lost another tough game Thursday, falling 3-1 to Brantley County High School in Nahunta.
The Blue Tide dropped to 8-16 while the Herons improved to 10-11.
Shawn Mills pitched a solid game for the Blue Tide, going the distance and surrendering only four hits and three runs. Brandon McManus was 2-for-3 and Jonathan Flynn was 1-for-3 for Long County.
“We really played well defensively,” Blue Tide coach Brian Thomas said. “We just couldn’t get a big hit with runners on base, but overall our performance was good.”
The Tide will get a chance to avenge the loss Tuesday when the Herons come to Ludowici for a rematch. The game is also Recreation Night at Fulcher Field, with all Long County Recreation Department players allowed to watch the game for free.
The future Blue Tide stars will also be allowed to go on the field with the Blue Tide players during the National Anthem at 5:45. The game follows at 6 p.m.
