After a four-year absence, First Presbyterian Christian Academy once again has a swim team.  The four Highlanders are eighth graders Julianna Hensely and Kathleen McGovern and 10th graders Diana Nikolovski and Chandler Zabel. The team has competed in four meets to date including this past weekend’s meet at Albany State University for the Deer-Windsor Invitational.
On Jan. 14, the team competed at Southland Academy in Americus.  Despite being the second-smallest team in attendance, both the Varsity and JV squads placed eighth in team points.  McGovern placed third in the Varsity 200 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly and sixth in the 100 Backstroke.
Hensley placed fourth in the JV 100 Freestyle.  Most improved swimmer for the meet went to Nikolovski, who dropped eighteen seconds in her 100 Freestyle.
At Albany State Highlanders Hensely and McGovern qualified for the Georgia Independent School Association State Swim Meet which will be held on Feb. 4 at Georgia Tech in Atlanta.
McGovern has qualified in all eight varsity events.  Hensley has qualified in the JV 50 Backstroke.
