Hurricanes maintain undefeated start

Now at 3-0, the Hinesville Hurricanes had a bit of Irish luck Saturday, scoring their third win. The semi-pros beat the Augusta Knights, 16-8, in Augusta.
It wasn’t an easy feat for the ’Canes, a semi-professional football team from Hinesville. They trailed 8-2 at the half.
Both teams swapped safeties to tie early, but the Knights quarterback also threw a touchdown pass just shy of halftime.
The Knights held the lead until the fourth quarter when Hurricane quarterback Tashawn Lee scored. A bit later Chauncey Crossley intercepted a pass, leading to another TD by Lee. Adrian Smith converted for two.
The Knights mounted a last-minute drive, but Crossley made another pick, killing their scoring run.
Crossley also had a fumble recovery. Defensively, Ronald Joseph had a pick as did Ben Wohlgenhut. Jamie Sharp recovered a fumble for the ’Canes.
The Hurricanes are off this week and will host the Georgia Pirates at 4 p.m. March 30 at Long Bell Stadium.
