The only team that handed the Lady Highlanders a loss in soccer this season got a taste of its own medicine Friday. Bulloch Academy visited the Lady ’Landers’ field at St. James and were defeated, 2-1.
Sophomore Kelsey Higgason scored both goals. She knocked one in during the first half and punched one in off a penalty kick in the second.
The Lady ‘Landers are currently 8-1 overall and 4-0 in the Georgia Independent School Association’s Region 4-AA.
Highlander coach Tom Sukaratana said his squad did much better at finishing at the goal.
“We had 18 shots on goal and we are doing better at finishing,” he said.
“We shut down their senior,” he said. “She scored four goals against us last time, but she couldn’t do anything against us.
“They are a good team with lots of seniors, but we did well against them this time around.”
The girls will host two region games next week, starting with Memorial Day at 5 p.m. Monday. On Friday, April 13, they are hoping for a little luck as they host region foe Frederica Academy at 4:30 p.m. On that day the Lady Highlander seniors will be honored.
