Bradwell Institute’s softball team didn’t get a chance to open the diamond season at home, as the Lady Tigers’ first game against Liberty County High was rescheduled due to bad weather.
Instead, the Lady Tigers had to open their season Tuesday in Ware County and were dealt a 13-6 loss.
Lady Tigers coach Sharyl Eastlake said her squad was leading, 6-5, in the fifth inning, but the Lady Gators loaded the bases with walks and being hit by pitches. Those gave the home team opportunities to score runs and take the game.
Lady Tigers pitcher Sarah Wells went 5 2/3 innings, and Kasey Smith finished the game.
Kelissa Hargrove nearly cleared the fence on a hit, and Courtney Felton and Smith also hit well for BI.
The Lady Tigers were scheduled to host Groves on Thursday in another region game, but the Rebels had to reschedule.
Bradwell again will hit the road this weekend for the Warriors’ Blast Tournament in Tattnall County.
