Local athletes fare well at state meet

A few of Bradwell Institute’s and Liberty County High School’s track-and-field athletes fared well at their respective Georgia High School Association state meets.
At the boys’ state meet, which was May 2-4 in Jefferson, Bradwell’s Sterling Burns finished sixth in the discus throw (140 feet, 6 inches).
Liberty County High Panther Jeremy Caldwell-Fabregas finished 12th in the high jump at 5-10.
At the girls’ state meet, which was May 9-11 in Albany, Bradwell’s KeAndrea Ladson placed third in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.80 seconds, seventh in the triple jump (36-6) and 15th in the high jump (4-10).
Liberty County’s Courtney Bennett placed third in the discus throw (130-6) and fourth in the shot put (38-2.5). Also, Liberty’s JaVoni Canty placed fifth in the discus (127-5) and Briannae Gadson placed fifth in the shot put (37-8.5).
