Local riders shine at spring show

Several riders from three local stables garnered top honors March 24 at the Dixie Stables’ 34th annual spring horse show in Allenhurst.
Area stables competing included Dixie Stables of Allenhurst, Bluff Creek Stables from Colonel’s Island and Bits and Bridles from Fort Stewart. More than 40 riders from nine stables participated.
Representing Dixie Stables, Rachel Ogden, showing Santa Cruz, won the 5-gaited show pleasure class, the adult equitation class, and the adult equitation championship.  Samantha Hocking, riding In My Father’s Eyes, won the pleasure driving class and was second in bareback equitation. Samantha also won the non-saddlebred pleasure, riding Syb van de Loekshamhoeve, a Friesian horse. Nicole Lloyd, riding Storm on the Rise, won the saddlebred country pleasure championship. Tiffany Smith, riding CSF Dixie Silk, won the bareback equitation and placed second in adult equitation while riding Jaques Rules. Katie Pearson on York’s Wild Angel was first in adult saddlebred country pleasure, second in saddlebred country pleasure championship, and second in adult equitation championship.  Sandra Sculli, riding China Silk’s Julia, won the saddlebred country pleasure, juvenile class.
For Bits And Bridles Stables, Sara Darby, riding Jigger of Gin, won three classes: hunter pleasure, hunt seat equitation and open pleasure championship. Diana Cox, riding Draco, finished second in non-saddlebred pleasure and in open pleasure championship. Representing Bluff Creek Stables, Lori Harden, riding Spurwing’s Time after Time, finished second in two classes: saddle seat equitation 14-17 and saddle seat equitation juvenile championship. Shannon Hardy, riding Spurwing’s Time after time, won the w/t showmanship 17 and under class and the w/t showmanship novice rider and finished second in w/t equitation novice rider. Sidney Prindiville, riding Oh What at Jewel, won first place in the w/t equitation novice rider class.  In the lead line class, Ava Edgy, riding Oh What A Jewel, won first place, and Izzy Bowen, riding Saint, finished in second place.
On April 28, riders from Dixie and the Coastal Georgia area will participate in the Wildwood Stables Horse Show in Jesup.
