Long County All-Stars win Lyons tournament

The Long County Recreation Department 12U All-Star team won the 49th annual Lyons Baseball Tournament on Monday with a 14-3 win over  the Soperton All-Stars.
The win advances Long County to the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association district tournament, which gets under way June 25 in Jeff Davis County.
“I’m extremely proud of this group of boys,” Long County Recreation Director Michelle Crowley said. “This age group has so much talent and played so well as a team. I also want to thank the coaches for all of their hard work and ask the community to please come out and support the team at the district tournament.”
The team consists of Dylan Stewart, Brandon Nobles, Josh Gordon, Matt Strickland, Gary Poppell, Tripp Stapleton, Brian Lester, Davis Teston, Mickey Harrilson, Grayson Howard and Jeffrey Edmondson.  Coaches are Matt Lester, David Stapleton, Deon Wells and Donna Gordon.
