Fortunately for the Long County High School basketball teams, they have home-court advantage this weekend when they battle two of their toughest nonregion opponents.
Tonight, the Tide teams take on Tattnall County. On Saturday, they Wayne County.
The Long County boys’ team have faced the Battle Creek Warriors 10 times, and each school has won five games.
Meanwhile, they have faced the Yellow Jackets 16 times, with each school winning eight.
Last year wasn’t a good year for the Blue Tide against either school. They lost to Tattnall County, 63-51, and to Wayne County, 73-67.
For the Lady Tide, Tattnall County holds an 8-2 advantage in the series, while Wayne County holds an 11-3 advantage. Last year, the Lady Warriors beat Long, 49-23, while the Lady Jackets claimed a 42-9 victory over the Lady Tide.
The girls’ games begin at 6:30 each night, with the boys’ games are scheduled at 8.
