The Long County boys’ and girls’ basketball teams both lost Friday at Metter in region action.
The Blue Tide lost, 75-64, and the Lady Tide fell, 72-54.
In the boys’ game, the teams exchanged leads several times through three quarters. In the fourth quarter, however, Long County committed too many turnovers, resulting in Metter having additional scoring opportunities and pulling away.
James Francis led the Blue Tide with 16 points. Clay Strickland added 14 points, and Brendon Scott scored 12 points.
With the loss, Long County’s record fell to 6-16 overall and 4-7 in Region 2B-AA. The Tigers improved to 8-14 and 5-3, respectively.
In the girls’ game, the woes continued for the Lady Tide. The loss was their 10th and dropped them to 4-19 overall and 2-9 in the region.  Metter moved to 5-18 overall and 3-8 in the region.
