After only being able to hit each other the past few weeks, Long County High School’s football players finally get to strap on gear and hit someone else.
The Blue Tide travel tonight to Mount Vernon to face the Montgomery County Eagles at 7:30. Both coaching staffs will get a good look at their teams to make possible adjustments with the regular season just around the corner.
“We just want to get some rhythm on offense, not get too many penalties, not jump off sides and just look as sharp as we can for this time of the year,” Long County head coach Ron Flott said.
Though the Eagles were winless last year, head coach Eric McDonald is looking to have his team bounce back in 2013.
Last year, the Blue Tide finished the 2012 season with a 5-5 overall record and was 4-5 in Region 2-AA, both bests for the program. This season, the Tide looks to do even better with goals of having a winning season and making the playoffs.
