Liberty County linebacker Raekwon McMillan is one of five high-school finalists for the 29th annual Butkus Award, which honors the nation’s top football linebackers, according to a news release issued by the Butkus Foundation and the National College Football Awards Association.
Winners will be announced by Dec. 10.
McMillan recently completed his final season at Liberty County. He is considered one of the nation’s top recruits.
High-school 2013 Butkus Award finalists:
• Dillon Bates, Ponte Vedra, Ponte Vedra, Fla.
• Kain Daub, Sandalwood, Jacksonville, Fla.
•Michael Ferns, St. Clairsville, St. Clairsville, Ohio
•Raekwon McMillan, Liberty County, Hinesville
•Tre Williams, St. Paul’s Episcopal, Mobile, Ala.
