With more Bowl Championship Series Division I college offers that can be counted on two hands and both feet, Liberty County Panther football player Raekwon McMillan has been one of the most coveted linebackers hailing from our area this past year.
Despite all the media attention and hype, McMillan has stayed focused on his goals and, on several occasions, has told reporters he will not announce his decision until the 2014 Under Armour game.
On Friday he accomplished the first step — being chosen to the initial roster of 2014 UA team, according to ESPN.com.
Ohio State, Clemson, Auburn, Georgia and Florida State have actively pursued McMillan, with the Buckeyes still holding a slight advantage. Last weekend, McMillan made his fourth visit to the Buckeyes nation where, according to landgrantholyland.com, Ohio State rolled out the red carpet for the five star recruit.
McMillan tweeted “I met Gene Smith, Troy Smith, Bobby Carpenter and Archie Griffin.”
According to bleacherreport.com, the opportunity of hanging out with former Buckeye greats has once again swayed his choice of top five schools.
“I’m still working on the top five, but after this trip it is clear that Ohio State is my favorite,” McMillan told Jeremy Birmingham of BuckeyeGrove.com.
The article went on to say that since November, McMillan also has visited Florida, Alabama, and Clemson.
