McRae, Brown have big games

According to utsports.com, former Liberty County High School basketball player Jordan McRae tallied 26 points and knocked down 6 of 7 3-pointers to help the University of Tennessee beat Ole Miss, 86-70, in a Southeastern Conference game Wednesday at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville.
Tennessee improved to 13-7 overall and 4-3 in the SEC. As of Thursday, McRae had started in all 20 games this season and is averaging 18.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and one block per game.
Tennessee will play at Alabama at 9 p.m. Saturday. It will be televised on ESPN2.
McRae’s former Panther teammate, Rion Brown, scored 25 points and made 12 of 13 at the free-throw line for Miami on Wednesday. However, it wasn’t enough, as Maryland’s Dez Wells hit a late 3-pointer to give the Terrapins a 74-71 win, according to the Charlotte Observer. As of Thursday, Brown also had started in all 20 games and leads the Hurricanes in scoring, averaging 14 points per game.
The Hurricanes host Norfolk State at 4 p.m. Saturday.
