The Lady Wildcats soccer team wrapped up the season as the runner-up for the Southeast Georgia Middle School Athletic Conference championship.

Though the Walker Middle School soccer program only is in its third year, both the boys’ and girls’ teams placed second in the conference.

The Lady ’Cats ended their regular season with a 6-4 record and went into the playoffs as the No. 3 seed behind top seeds Martha Puckett Middle School and Waycross Middle School. In the team’s first game against Waycross, the Lady Wildcats won a tough matchup, 3-1.

On Saturday in Ludowici, the Lady ’Cats faced Martha Puckett Middle School for the championship.

Through the first five minutes of the game, the Ludowici girls played evenly with the visiting team. But Martha Puckett scored with 19:30 left in the first half and added two more goals to take three-goal lead at halftime.

The Lady Wildcats shut out Martha Puckett in the second half but couldn’t make up any ground and fell, 3-0.

"Making the playoffs is huge for this team," Walker coach Cindy Mills said. "We have four players on the team who have never played, and for the program to only be in its third year and to do this well is a great accomplishment."

The members of the team are Harley Dawson, Taylor Poole, Lesly Flores, Kaylan McEwin, Teresa Chihuahua, Nakia Hunter, Madalyne Flynn, Andrienne Hall, Xena Lewallen, Alyssa Anderson, Hannah Golden and Kaylee Camp.
