Days after winning a sixth region title, the First Presbyterian Christian Academy boys’ basketball team has found out who it will play in the first round of the Georgia Independent School Association AA state tournament.
The Highlanders will face the Windsor Academy Knights at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Gatewood School in Eatonton.
Last week, the Highlanders beat rival Memorial Day for a third time this season, along with Trinity Christian, during the region tournament in Dublin.
FPCA has not faced the Knights this season, which means FPCA coach Shane Smith still is working on the scouting report.
“I don’t really know that much about them. They have had some quality wins against some good opponents. But at this point, wins and losses don’t matter,” Smith said.
FPCA earned the top seed, while Windsor Academy enters the tournament as the No. 4 seed from Region 1.
“Everyone is capable of winning right now. We are just going to continue to play our game. The same thing that has gotten us this far is going to carry us through the state tournament,” Smith said.
Windsor Academy, out of Macon, claims country-music singer Jason Aldean as one of its more famous alumnus.
