Panthers fall 10-0 to No. 1 Wayne County

Top-ranked Wayne County held on to the top spot in Region 2A-AAAA and Liberty County High School dropped to 1-7 in the region after the Yellow Jackets beat the Panthers 10-0 in five innings Friday in Jesup.

Panther freshman Jake Lee started on the mound and tossed 2-1/3 innings, giving up four runs. Brandon Whitmore came in to finish the third and fourth innings and allowed two runs. He was pulled in the fifth inning and Richard Lovelady finished on the mound giving up the last four runs.

Cameron Harris had the Panthers’ only hit. Liberty County is 4-10 overall and will travel to Ware County on Tuesday for another region game.

Wayne County is ranked No. 1 in the current Class AAAA poll. The Yellow Jackets are coached by former Bradwell Institute coach Brad Weir.
