Long County High School’s boys’ basketball team went 1-1 during the weekend by beating Metter, 50-47, on Friday on the road and losing to Vidalia, 58-46, Saturday night at home.
Long County will host Atkinson on Friday. The girls tip off at 6 p.m., with the boys’ game to follow.
The First Presbyterian Christian Academy boys’ team, back from holiday break, fell just short to Brentwood, 70-67, on Friday in Sandersville.  The Highlanders will be in Augusta on Saturday to face Greater Augusta Independent School at 12:30 p.m.
The Faith Baptist Christian Academy’s boys’
 team spent New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day at the Hoops in Overdrive Tournament in South Carolina. On New Year’s Eve, the Crusaders topped Legacy Charter, 86-79. FBCA started the new year with an 83-65 win against Quality Education Academy. This past Friday, the boys won again by beating Grace Baptist Christian, 72-29, at the Community Christian Invitational in Hiram. The Crusaders followed that up with a 74-42 win against Community Christian in game two of the tournament Saturday, and on Monday, FBCA beat Potter’s House Christian, 89-77, in Jacksonville.
The Crusaders, 15-3 overall, play Bible Baptist at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Savannah.
