First Presbyterian Christian Academy recently nabbed two more shutouts. The Lady Highlanders defeated Georgia Christian, 7-0, and the Highlanders downed Georgia Christian, 8-0, in soccer Thursday afternoon.
The shutouts came just two days after the teams earned shutouts over Memorial Day. The girls improve to 2-0 and the boys are 3-0 to date.
Thursday evening, the Liberty County High School soccer teams played makeup games against Statesboro. Rain forced the original matches to be postponed.
The Panther boys fell, 1-0, to the Blue Devils. The Lady Panthers also lost, 2-0. Lady Panther coach Jarvis McArthur said the girls battled throughout the match.
“I was really proud because we held a very talented team to only two goals,” he said.
The coach said Lynda Jimenez, Tatiana White, Matti White and Madison Ullom played solid defense. He added Tiffany Erickson and Kayla Frazier did great job marking their best strikers.
“But we still need to improve our passing skills and spacing in order to score a few goals,” he said. “This will come with time because most of our players are new to the sport.”
