Former Liberty County high School baseball player Trey Sikes was this week’s league leader in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association for hitters.
The current South Georgia College baseball standout’s batting average is .429, earning him the top spot.
The freshman infielder has played in 21 games with 63 at bats, 12 runs, 27 hits, seven doubles one home run, 14 RBIs and 9 bases on balls. In addition to his .429 average, he holds a .486 on base percentage and .587 slugging percentage to date.
But he wants to do better.
“It feels great to lead the league in average,” he said. “I can’t be satisfied, though. I have to keep working hard and strive to do better.”
“We are so excited for Trey and are so proud of all he has accomplished,” his mother Kathy Sikes said.
