Laettner to appear at Liberty Co. High School
Former NBA player Christian Laettner will be one of the speakers at a “Spring for Success” seminar at 6 p.m. Monday, April 14, at Liberty County High School.
Laettner is a two-time NCAA champion at Duke University, played 13 seasons in the NBA and was a member of the 1992 Olympic gold-medal winning Dream Team men’s basketball squad. He and a representative from Student World Athlete, a college scouting and recruiting service, will address parents and students on how colleges and universities recruit athletes. The event is free. Gnats’ ‘Pack the Park’
game fundraiser set
SAVANNAH — The Savannah Sand Gnats will hold their fourth annual “Pack the Park” game, benefiting Park Place Outreach — Youth Emergency Shelter, starting at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, April 29 at Grayson Stadium.
Tickets are $8 and are available at www.sandgnats.com with the promotional code “PARKPLACE.”
Proceeds from the game will go toward 365 days of services to children ages 11 to 17 who are residents of the shelter. Park Place Outreach Youth Emergency Shelter, at 514 E. Henry St. in Savannah, provides support for troubled children and teens in Savannah and the surrounding area.
