2nd annual Tiger Touchdown Club Golf Tournament

The second annual Tiger Touchdown Club Golf Tournament is Saturday at the Cherokee Rose Country Club in Hinesville. The tournament, sponsored by the Tiger Touchdown Club and Hinesville Ford, benefits the 2014 Bradwell Institute Football team. The fee is $50 per person and $200 for a four-person team. Registration starts at 1 p.m. Shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Hole sponsorships are available for $100. Prizes will be awarded for first through fourth places. Golfers can win a car with a hole-in-one. Registration available on-site. Checks should be made payable to Tiger Touchdown Club. 

LCRD Theater camp

Registration is now underway at the Liberty County Recreation Department for a youth Theater Camp.  There will be a Beginner camp for 5-11 year olds each Tuesday from 9:00-11:00am and an Intermediate camp for 12-18 year olds from noon-2:00pm each Tuesday.  Both camps will start on June 10 and continue for 8 weeks.  The cost is $60 for all 8 weeks or $10 per week.  The camp will be conducted at Stafford Pavilion located directly beside the LCRD Office.  Instructors are John Jenkinson and Sarah Noel.  For additional information call 876-5359.

LCRD Boot Camp

Slots are still available for the Liberty County Recreation Department’s Boot Camp training course being held from 5:30-6:30 every Tuesday and Thursday during the months of June and July. The camp is open to ages 16 and up and is free. It will be held at the Shuman Recreation Center.

Slots are still available for the Liberty County Recreation Department’s Speed training program being held from 7-8 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday during the months of June and July. The camp is open to ages 16 and up and is free. It will be held at the Shuman Recreation Center.

Hinesville Soccer tryouts

The Hinesville Soccer Association will be holding tryouts 6:30 p.m. June 3-5 at James Brown Park in Hinesville. This is for boys and girls U10 and U 12 Academy and U14-U19 Select teams. For more information, call coach Tom Sukaratana at 977-4642.

Jiu Jitsu Camp

Trainer Richard Somerville will be hostng Jiu Jitsu camp from 10:30-11:30 a.m. for ages 8-12 and from 11:45- 1 p.m. for ages 13-16. Second annual Safe Kids Savannah Youth Triathlon

The second annual Safe Kids Savannah Youth Triathlon will be held at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6. Registration is now open for the swim, bike, and run event that will be geared toward youth ages 7 to 15. To register, go to www.runsignup.com and click on the “Race” tab at the top of the page. Registration forms are also available at Fleet Feet Sports located at 3405 Waters Avenue and at the Chatham County Aquatic Center on Sallie Mood Drive.

     The triathlon will take place in and around the Chatham County Aquatic Center and Lake Mayer in Savannah. Additional information on the event course, age groups and corresponding Triathlon distances, and cost can be found at www.safekidssavannah.org. Tunnel to Towers run open registration

The race is set for Sept. 13, and the 5K run/walk begins at 8 a.m. The 3rd annual Tunnel to Towers Run Savannah honors the legacy of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller along with his 342 FDNY first responders who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty on Sept. 11, 2001. Proceeds benefit the Tunnel to Towers Run Foundation’s various programs including Building for America’s Bravest, which constructs specially adapted smart homes for our nation’s most catastrophically injured service members. The run in Savannah will also feature The Siller Cup Firefighter Challenge. Teams of four firefighters or more from across the nation are expected to compete for a chance to take home a traveling trophy from last year’s winner, Bluffton Township Fire Department, and have the opportunity to defend their title in 2015.

The T2T Run Savannah is also looking for children to be involved in a memorial tribute on race day to honor each of the 343 fallen FDNY firefighters. To sign your child up for this special tribute, please contact the committee at Savannah@tunnel2towers.org.
