All*Stars banquet planned

The fifth annual Scott’s All*Stars awards banquet will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 21, at Club Stewart on Fort Stewart.
WSAV Sports Director Ken Slats will be the emcee. Savannah businessman Antwan Lang will be the keynote speaker.
Tickets for the event are $25.

Open swim
Both the Hinesville swimming pool and the new pool at the Liberty County Community Complex in Midway are open. The Hinesville pool is in Liberty Independent Troop Park on Highway 84. Hours are 2-6 p.m. daily. Admission is $2 per person. The pool may be reserved for private parties.

Swimming lessons
There’s one more two-week swimming lesson (Monday-Thursday)  for kids 4 and older offered at both pools: July 7-17. Lessons start at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. and at 6:10 p.m. Each class is 50 minutes long.  The cost is $25 per participant. A limited number of slots are available.

Family nights
Monday and Wednesday evenings are family nights. From 7:15-9 p.m., only parents and children are allowed. Admission is $2 per person.

‘Hank’ White golf tourney set for Aug. 2

The 10th annual Henry “Hank” White Memorial Golf Tournament will tee off at 9 a.m. Aug. 2 at the Cherokee Rose Golf Course in Hinesville. Tournament fees are $60 per person or $240 for a team of four and include golf cart, green fees and lunch. Mulligans are $5 each and limited to two per person. Prizes are awarded for first-, second- and third-place teams. There also will be prizes for the closest to the pin, longest drive, longest putt and straightest drive.

A golfer will win a car by hitting a hole-in-one at No. 3 or 13.Sponsorship opportunities are available and are priced from $100-$500.For more information, call Derrick Taylor at 912-977-6714.

Second annual Safe Kids Savannah Youth Triathlon

The second annual Safe Kids Savannah Youth Triathlon will be at 8 a.m. Sept. 6. Registration is open for the swim, bike and run event geared toward youth ages 7 to 15. To register, go to www.runsignup.com and click on the “Race” tab at the top of the page. Registration forms are also available at Fleet Feet Sports at 3405 Waters Ave. and at the Chatham County Aquatic Center on Sallie Mood Drive.The triathlon will take place in and around the Chatham County Aquatic Center and Lake Mayer. Race honors FDNY

Registration for the Tunnel to Towers run is open. The race is set for Sept. 13, and the 5K run/walk begins at 8 a.m. The third annual Tunnel to Towers Run Savannah honors the legacy of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller along with his 342 FDNY first responders who sacrificed their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. Proceeds benefit the Tunnel to Towers Run Foundation’s various programs including Building for America’s Bravest, which constructs specially adapted homes for injured service members. The run in Savannah will also feature The Siller Cup Firefighter Challenge. Teams of four firefighters or more from across the nation are expected to compete for a chance to take home a traveling trophy.

The T2T Run Savannah is also looking for children to be involved in a memorial tribute to honor each of the 343 fallen FDNY firefighters. To sign your child up for this special tribute, contact the committee at Savannah@tunnel2towers.org.
